IN THE HEART OF THE AVENUE OF THE GIANTS

Giant Redwoods is located in the small village of Myers Flat on the Avenue of the Giants. We are surrounded by fifty-one thousand acres of Humboldt Redwoods State Park forest. Our 23 acre natural river front park is away from the freeway with easy access. Come enjoy the quiet of the redwoods and the South Fork of the Eel river. Our sites are shaded in the redwoods and native trees or on the sunny bank of the river. We have full and partial hookups, pull through's and a separate tent area. Giant Redwoods is a family oriented campground for all members of your household - pets included.

About Us

Located in the small village of Myers Flat, our camp started when the pioneer Myers family donated the river front property to the Boy Scouts in the late 1940's. Much to the family's distress, the Boy Scouts sold the park and it became a private campground in the 1950's. From the first owners, the Curtis family, the the current owners, the Rath family, the park has been developed for your family's enjoyment.

The 23 acre property has its own small redwood grove along with many native trees. We are located along the river with great access for swimming, fishing and boating in the clear Eel river. We are in the middle of the Avenue of the Giants and Humboldt Redwood Redwood State Park, the largest of the Redwood forests left after three million acres were logged. You can see the forest across the river from the camp. We are one of the only full service campgrounds with hookups on the Avenue. Our primary season is from May to October with warm days and cool nights. Although we are in an area with the average of fifty inches of rain a year, to keep the Redwoods growing, our summers are usually rain free.

Our sites are varied. The grassy tent sites are on the river bank and are separated by a natural bamboo screen for privacy. Our full hookups are shaded by a variety of trees and most are pull through's. Water and electric sites are in the Redwood grove, native trees, or in the sun. Our roads and sites are gravel based in keeping with the natural setting. We have been described as a state park with hookups. All hookup sites have satellite TV. All sites have picnic tables and fire rings. We offer a camp store, playground, clean hot showers and laundry.

Our summer nights are spent around the campfire with popcorn and evening entertainment. Ice cream socials are another popular activity. Winter through spring offers steelhead and salmon fishing. Our Indian summers often last through November. Favorite activities of our guests are river swimming off our sandy beach and enjoying the quiet Redwoods. We provide a dog freedom area on the beach for our furry friends to swim and run. It is a comfortable quarter of a mile to walk to Myers Flat. In town is the famous Shrine Drive Through Tree, the oldest of the Redwood trees. You will find the village on the Avenue of the Giants with a variety of shops and restaurants.
